Read Forgotten Cove Now or Eventually?

The choice is yours! I absolutely love Forgotten Cove and think it is a quick read. I endeavored to make it a timeless page turner. But if you are a binge reader and want to wait for the release of additional books in the series, I think you’ll enjoy Forgotten Cove down the road. I’m excited to start working on the second book in the Hailing Cove Series soon, so there’s plenty more to look forward to!

From the Jacket of Forgotten Cove

Elle Wildes was a normal teenage girl. Or at least she thought she was until her mother sent her to her grandma’s house in Hailing Cove. Anticipating a boring summer, Elle’s world is turned upside down when she realizes the sleepy coastal town holds its own mysteries and those from her past as well.

When Elle’s forgotten memories come back to haunt her, she discovers the secrets of her family’s lineage and the responsibilities that come with it. But with two dreamy guys vying for her attention, she is taken on a roller coaster ride of heartache and betrayal as she discovers her identify in an unknown magical town.

Always Eventually Review

Because I am the author of Forgotten Cove, I’ll offer my standard book review with a twist! I absolutely adore this novel, and while I might be a little biased, I truly think it’s an indie gem. Elle Wildes, the protagonist, is a pretty normal teenager dealing with the usual teenage stuff—figuring out her identity, navigating complicated relationships, and experiencing new feelings like first love. But there’s a big catch: Elle has a host of forgotten memories that seem to be tied to her mother’s hometown, Hailing Cove.

A lot of Forgotten Cove was inspired by The Secret Circle. That book had a huge impact on me as a young reader, and I think it holds a special place for many YA and fantasy fans. It helped so many of us fall in love with magic and fantasy and other genres within the YA realm. The Secret Circle touches on themes of self-discovery and forbidden love, and, like that story, Forgotten Cove also takes place in a fictional East Coast town.

While I wanted to pay homage to The Secret Circle, I also aimed to create a book that readers love—the kind of book you can’t put down and mourn when it ends. One of my favorite things in stories is a good cliffhanger. I love ending chapters on those moments that make you have to read just one more page. But I also hope the characters feel fully developed and lovable. In future novels in The Hailing Cove Series, I’d love to spend more time developing the characters and really putting them through the ringer. (Sorry Elle!)

At the end of the day, I hope you enjoy Forgotten Cove as much as I enjoyed writing it! And if you do (or even if you don’t), please consider leaving me an honest review. Wherever you go to find your next read, I hope I’ll see you there!
